ABOUT MAALAEAWith more than 350 residents Maalaea qualifies as a “census designated place” as is clearly marked on every Maui map. Many of these residents live in their boats in the marina and in condos that stretch down the beach from the harbor towards Kihei. It’s difficult to know for sure where Maalaea ends and begins from the road, as several miles of windswept beaches call Maalaea home.

MAALAEA HARBOR SHOPS
Located on the Maalaea Harbor at 300 Maalaea Road, Maui Harbor Shops (MHS) is a mixed-use shopping center nestled between Lahaina and Kihei and one of the few ocean-front shopping destinations in all of Maui.
MAALAEA BEACH
Maalaea beach is very long and wide beach that parallels highway 310. There is numerous parking alongside the highway. It can be very windy during the afternoon but does afford great swimming and snorkeling.
MAUI OCEAN CENTER
The Maui Ocean Center is an aquarium and oceanography center located in Maalaea, Hawaii on the island of Maui. Opened in 1998 by Coral World International, the 3 acres facility is the largest tropical reef aquarium in the Western Hemisphere.
KEALIA POND NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge is a coastal salt marsh along the south-central coast of the Hawaiian Island of Maui. The refuge is located between the towns of Kīhei and Māʻalaea, on both sides of North Kihei Road.
